Carseat-and-Stroller-in-One for Traveling Tots

Carseat-and-Stroller-in-One for Traveling Tots

You can’t believe how many equipment a young child absolutely must have nowadays. And when that child travels, believe me, it’s a major logistical nightmare to lug around all those baby or toddler stuff. Apart from the suitcase with ten thousand clothes, there’s the carseat, the stroller, the booster seat, the rocker, the playgym… Man, the list goes on and on! I remember, when we went to my in-laws for holidays, it took us half a day just to pack the car! And flying? Don’t ask.
Here’s probably one of the best gadgets for parents traveling with their little ones: the …read more

Avoiding Sandfly Stings

Avoiding Sandfly Stings

So how do you avoid getting feasted on by sandflies? Here are some tips for avoiding insect stings:
1. Wear protective clothing — long sleeved shirts and pants and hats.
2. Ask your hotel/resort management if they can provide mosquito nets to protect you during your sleep.
3. Use insecticides, mosquito repellents or one of those plug-in insect zappers
4. Apply insect repellents lotion directly on the skin.
5. Avoid venturing out on the beach at night, or after the wind has died down.
But probably the best tip I found came from the Sibu Resort FAQ:
Oil is the answer to the Sandfly. Repellants, no matter …read more

Here on my part of the sky, we’re in the thick of Carneval season. But that’s not the carnival I’,m talking about. Hard Rock Hotel to Open in Penang, Malaysia

Hard Rock Hotel to Open in Penang, Malaysia

If you love rock n’ roll, then you gotta love the Hard Rock chain of restos and hotels. By the end of next year, there’ll be a Hard Rock hotel in Malaysia to welcome you, too. The third in Asia (the others are in Bali, Indonesia and in Pattaya, Thailand), this 255-room hotel will rise in Penang, where the Casaurina Beach resort used to be (it closed in December 2006).
Until then there’s the Hard Rock Cafe in Penang. You don’t get to stay the night but if you want something well, un-Malaysian, I guess, there’s a place to check …read more

Exploring Khujaraho, India

Exploring Khujaraho, India

I came across Lora’s travelogue of her travels in India as a student. Her last entry, Temples, Tigers, and Tree houses, was particularly full of action and adventure! It’s a long essay but it’s worth a read, especially if you’re planning to visit the area around Khujaraho. The pictures are beautiful, showcasing the richness of India’s culture and history.
Go hop over and read for yourself.
