Who says it’s always swelteringly hot in Southeast Asia? While there’s no real winter along this latitude, Siberian winds are starting to be felt though. In Baguio, for example, the summer capital of the Philippines, dawn temperatures have been dipping. The past weekend has been so far the coldest this year, recording a temp of just about 10 degrees Celsius! Even Manila has been experiencing cooler breezes, with high 20’s during the day cooling off to low 20s and even lower during the night.

On my part of the globe, the weather has been unusually warm, and my allergies are acting up. We’re supposed to be right in the middle of winter, and yet some shrubs are blooming outside! If the weather goes on like this, the cherry blossom front, or the wave of cherry blossoming in Japan might just start earlier than usual.
If you want to catch the ohana-mi (best cherry viewing time at a certain region), best finalize your plans now. Check out the Japan National Tourist Organization’s recommended sites for cherry blossom sightseeing.

Temperatures are dropping and winter sports are in! In Asia, one of the most frequented destination in Asia for winter sports is Japan, with more and more tourists (particularly from Australia) heading to Niseko, Japan.
