Oasis Hong Kong Goes Bankrupt, All Flights Cancelled

Earlier this week, Oasis Hong Kong suddenly announced that they are out of business and left thousands of passengers high and dry. Oasis Hong Kong is the first long-haul budget airline, flying between London and Vancouver, and Hong Kong.
Since then, the airlines have been making arrangements with hotels and other airlines where passengers may make alternative travel bookings. If you are one of the passengers affected by this mayhem, make sure you fill out this passenger registration of claim form (pdf file).

It used to be that flying with Malaysia-based budget airline Air Asia allows you to check in up to 20kg of luggage for free. Well, effective April 21, 2008, not anymore!
Checked baggage will be charged on a per piece basis up to a maximum combined weight of 15kg. Anything over 15kg will be charged as excess in addition to the per piece checked baggage fee.

AirAsia To Introduce Mobile Communications On Board

Air Asia has annunced that starting 2009, passengers will be allowed to use their mobile phones and BlackBerry-type devices to send and receive SMS text messages, emails, and to make and receive mobile phone calls during flight.
AirAsia’s entire fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft will be fitted with the OnAir equipment, including aircraft currently flying and those on order from Airbus. A total of 150 aircraft will be equipped by 2013. AirAsia X, the latest long haul low cost airline have also signed on similar agreement for a minimum of 15 firm order of Airbus A300-300.
