In the beginning of the year, Air Asia announced the making of Air Asia X, a long-haul budget airline. It’ll cover flights that are 4-8 hours long, complementary to the existing short-haul Southeast Asian routes Air Asia has already been servicing.

Starting March 23, 2007, Tiger Airways will fly 4 times a week from Singapore to Perth, Australia. Return fares from Singapore start from only AUD$292.24 (fares range around US$200-230), inclusive of fees and taxes. The flight takes about 4 and a half hours.
