A trip to Palawan is not complete without a visit to El Nido.

Koh Chang, Thailand

Koh Chang, Thailand

When I first read that the Dusit chain of hotels opened its first resort hotel in Koh Chang, I was like, “Huh?! Where is Koh Chang?!?” I know that koh means “island and chang means “elephant”, but I have never heard of an Elephant Island in Thailand.

Apparently, the island is located 225 km southeast of Bangkok and is Thailand’s second-largest island, next to Phuket. Wikitravel and this website has more info on Ko Chang.
Hm, it seems like the island is gaining popularity among tourists if more upscale hotels are being built on the island.

Bohol, Here We Come!

Ok, sudden change of plans.
When I realized what a long road trip it was going to be to head all the way to Pagudpud by car, I decided to check whether I could cut the trip short by taking a flight to Laoag City. Considering that I’m pregnant and we’ll have a hyperactive 5-year old in tow, I checked Cebu Pacific’s airfares, and was surprised to see that they were offering one-peso seat promos to all domestic destinations!
After an hour or so of surfing and mulling over, I’ve made an impromptu booking to Tagbilaran, Bohol. Yup, that’s about the …read more

3. Use insecticides, mosquito repellents or one of those plug-in insect zappers
4. Apply insect repellents lotion directly on the skin.
5. Avoid venturing out on the beach at night, or after the wind has died down.
But probably the best tip I found came from the Sibu Resort FAQ:
Oil is the answer to the Sandfly. Repellants, no matter …read more

Sandflies on the Beach

Sandflies on the Beach

You’re off to your dream tropical beach destination. Pristine waters, wide sandy beaches, with just a few cabañas along the shore. And there it is. A sting. An itchy bite. Sandflies, also referred to as No-See-Ums, because you rarely see them.
Are they health hazards? Travel Doctor says:
Lurking on the beaches of many of our favourite holiday and diving resorts is a disease that can do more than just ruin your holiday. It’s a disease that can haunt you for months after you return home, and even ruin your life. Though it’s not as widely known as malaria, it can be …read more
