Trekking in Nepal on HD Video
The following entry is written by Guest Blogger Tyler Bell, a blogger, vlogger, and sometimes English teacher living in Japan. You can read about his travels at his personal site www.tylerbell.net.
On May 28, 2008, Nepal elected to end 240 years of monarchy rule, giving 60-year-old King Gyanendra 15 days to pack up and clear out. The move comes after an increasing loss of power for Nepal’s royal family. In 2001, the crown prince went on a shooting spree that left the King, Queen, and himself dead. By 2006, concessions were forced upon the monarchy that ended Nepal’s status as a Hindu Kingdom and restored some democratic practices.
Furthermore, the Communist Maoist party, a politically and sometimes violent faction, has transformed from a fringe “rebel” group to an organized political party that enjoyed great success in this years first-ever election for a constitutional assembly.
I had a chance to visit Nepal recently, and with my friend went on a several week trek in the famed Everest Region. From this experience, I have produced an 11-episode high definition (HD) series chronicling our experience. Here’s the first episode:
Trekking in Nepal: Episode 01 - Intro from Tyler Bell on Vimeo.
In this first introductory episode you can get an overview of the series and see what gear I packed for a trip that takes us to one of the most interesting destinations I have had the pleasure of visiting.
