Vigan, Laoag, and Pagudpud Travelogue

Remember my foiled plans to go along the Philippines’ North Luzon west coast? Well, I didn’t manage it make it a reality, but I’m glad someone did… or close to it, at least.

Diving in Maldives on a Budget

Diving in Maldives on a Budget

Diving in the Maldives without breaking the bank? It’s possible.
The diving in the Maldives is meant to be some of the best in the world and they have “liveaboards” where you stay on board the boat for the whole week and dive three times a day. These are still not cheap but they are a hell of a lot cheaper than five star hotels with heart shaped pools and if we could find one that was affordable then suddenly this Maldives idea was not so mad after all and Trace and I would get twenty dives under our belts.

Singapore Airshow: Organizational Flop

Singapore Airshow: Organizational Flop

What happens when 40,000 visitors go to an event that’s so unorganized it seems they were only prepared to handle 10%, if at all?
That’s what happened during the first day the Singapore Airshow opened to the public last Saturday, February 23. From getting there to getting out of there, it was a complete mayhem, it marred what could have been a spectacular event.
As advised, we set off to avail of the shuttle buses from the Expo MRT station, but after queuing for 15 minutes with more than a hundred others and no shuttle bus in sight, we decided to take …read more

The Manila Bay

The Manila Bay

Just wanted to share a videoclip I took of Manila Bay, particularly the area behind the SM Mall of Asia, famed to be the biggest mall in the country, and 3rd worldwide:

Singapore Airshow 2008

Singapore Airshow 2008

We’ve got tickets to the Singapore Airshow 2008! I’m not really that keen on the aviation exhibits, but me and my son are looking forward to the Aerobatics Flying Displays.

Aerobatics, sorely missed at the 2006 air show in Singapore, will make a comeback with at least two displays at Singapore Airshow 2008, including one by the Black Knights, F-16 pilots from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, as well as performance from the Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes.
Will try to remember to take pics!

Phuket’s Indigo Pearl Easter Packages

Phuket’s Indigo Pearl Easter Packages

Here’s a lovely lovely place in Phuket where you can spend easter: the Indigo Pearl resort.
Inspired by Phuket’s tin mining past, Indigo Pearl’s architecture and décor evokes a Thai factory of a century ago. The landscaping overflows with surprises: the postmodern transformation of a mature plantation spiced with modern sculpture and found industrial art. Simply awe-inspiring, creating a unique setting for a special event or a fantastic holiday.
Take advantage of their Easter Packages (3 or 5 nights). If you’re travelling with a child, you may avail of the free admissions to the Phuket Fantasea Show. Your kid also gets to …read more

No Smoking in Thailand’s Public Places

No Smoking in Thailand’s Public Places

Do you smoke? Well, unless you’re willing to pay a hefty fine, don’t light up in public places in Thailand. The Public Health Ministry has extended a national ban on smoking in public areas to include pubs, restaurants, discos and market-places, both open-air and air-conditioned.
Smoking is already prohibited in airconditioned restaurants but the ministry’s regulation to include airconditioned pubs, discos, bars and parts of outdoor public venues such as Chatuchak Weekend Market will take effect as of February 17.
