As the year comes to a close, I reflect on all the traveling and touring and sightseeing I’ve done the past year– be it for real or virtual (online, print, or television)– and I realize that nothing can top the one-way trip we made as a family this year from Europe to Asia.
It has been […]

When traveling in a foreign country, how do you know which restaurant serves the best local cuisine? Your travel guidebook might have some recommendations, but often I find that those digs are less authentic, probably because most of these establishments cater to tourists, and the flavors are already adjusted according to the targeted clientele’s tastes.

A perpetual concern among parents traveling with kids by air is safety on the plane. It used to be that, during take-off and landing, toddlers are given a shorter belt which are then linked to your own (child sits on your lap), but this has since been debunked as it was considered to be less […]

Since I was not early enough in booking tickets for travel this month, I took the next big break in our calendar: the days near Chinese New Year. I was able to secure tickets with Jetstar’s promotional fares a while back, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the family will be on a two week […]

As you all recall, I’ve just relocated back to Asia in June this year, and this is the first time I’m spending Christmas holidays here, after so many years. Hm, while I do enjoy living and traveling in the region, I have to admit it feels strange to be celebrating Christmas at 30 degrees […]

If you can’t travel all the way to Europe, you can get experience a German-style Christmas market at Roppongi Hills.
From traditional German Christmas pyramids, to Käthe Wohlfahrt gifts and trinkets, to Christmas fare such as stollen, gluehwein (mulled wine) and bratwurst — German tradition, right in the heart of Tokyo.

Traveling with tots? Flying with Kids is an excellent online resource for tips, stories, and offers to help you survive air travel with little passengers.
What toys should you bring? Will the airline provide meals for the baby? Will there be diaper changing facilities? What seat is best for traveling families– bulk seat or ordinary row […]

Yup, you read it right: free flights! Excluding taxes and charges, of course.
You’d have to book your travel quickly, though (offer runs until Dec 19, 2007) for travel up to 31 March 2008. Most flights are to/from Singapore.
Perfect as a last minute Christmas gift!
