Auction for A380 Maiden Flight Tickets Starts August 27!

by Ruth on August 21st, 2007

I’m probably the last person who hasn’t participated in an eBay auction. I have an account, mind, but I haven’t really used it, whether to sell or to bid for stuff. I find the whole process a bit tedious. But I just might change my mind as Singapore Airlines launches the charity auction for the tickets to the A380 maiden flight from Singapore to Sydney.

Singapore Airlines A380The auction starts on Monday, August 27, 2007. Seats in all three classes will be sold one after another, across both legs of the flight. The bidding will run for over a period of just over two weeks until September 10, 2007. Note that since seats are sold on a one-way basis, you will have to bid twice, if you want a return flight.

If you want to bid, here are a few requirements:

• An eBay user ID
• The names and passport numbers of those travelling
• For bids on packages in the premium classes (Business & Suites), or bids over USD1,000 in Economy Class, pre-qualification will be required. This ensures bids are not artificially inflated, and gives bidders confidence they are bidding only against genuine and pre-qualified bidders

Prequalification is initiated online. Singapore Airlines’ global auction management agency, Auctionwire, has developed numerous ways for bidders to pre-qualify and lodge security deposits for bids requiring pre-qualification.

Should you need more info on the packages available, bid prequalification and how to get an eBay user ID, just head on the Singapore Airlines A380 website.

I am really excited to see how much the tickets would fetch and which ticket will cost more– the first, or the last one.
