Nepal on a Budget
Melissa at Flyaway Weblog, a great resource on budget travel gives us an estimate of accommodation expenses in Nepal:
Travelers who are on tight budgets would be glad to know that… “A budget traveler can live well in Nepal on about 15 dollars a day. Budget accommodations for a single or double room in Nepal run from around US$5.00-8.00 (100 NPR to around 250 NPR). This kind of money gets you a bed and a bathroom. Cheaper rooms usually do not have sheets, blankets or towels, which are provided at an extra cost.”

As a specialist tour operator, we only operate holidays to small number of carefully selected destination. Our groups are diverse, comprised of different nationalities, gender and age. Perhaps the only real requirement is a sense of adventure and an appetite for discovery

Travelling on a very tight budget to the mountains of Nepal may deprive you of lots of joys. Be on budget but not on very tight one.A mountain holiday is much unlike a city tour. Also note that prices have gone up in Nepal due to fuel hikes and many other reasons.

I fully agree to this . Allow almost 20% increase in prices than 2007 in the trekking trails of Nepal Himalayas.
