Christmas in Asia
If you’re looking for a place in Asia where the true religious and traditional meaning of Christmas is celebrated, your best bet would be in the Philippines. The archipelago, having been colonized by the Spaniards for 300 years is largely Catholic and Christmas is a big event. Although it has also become commercialized, particularly in the big cities, traditions and family-focused festivities still prevail. I should know; I just spent the holidays with the rest of the clan.

Christmas in the Philippines is really amazing; and we don’t fully appreciate it until we’ve spent Christmas somewhere else.
Which explains the tons of Filipinos booking December flights back home, despite sky-high prices and fully booked seats. Here in Singapore, once they find out I’m Filipina, even cab drivers wax effusive about having experienced Christmas once or twice in Manila, Cebu, Davao or Bacolod. Wow.
