Hong Kong: UK’s Favourite Overseas City

by Ruth on October 25th, 2006

Hong Kong has been named as the (Britain’s) Favorite Overseas City during this year’s Guardian, Observer and Guardian Unlimited Travel Awards ceremony in Cape Town (why do they always hold these travel awards in such posh, dreamy places? The World Travel Awards was recently held in Turks and Caicos).

Well, I suppose Hong Kong’s popularity to the Brits is not that surprising. And not without reason. Check out Richard Cook’s tips on what’s new in Hong Kong. For those on a shoestring budget, these budget travel tips will help stretch your dollar to its maximum.

For more Hong Kong travel ideas and tips, the Hong Kong Tourism Board website is a good place to start planning your trip. Don’t miss the Ngong Ping Skyrail (but skip it if you’re afraid of heights), and for those travelling with little ones, the HK Disneyland should be a hit!

Hi Sam, thanks for dropping by!

True, Paris, may be a frequent destination, but I think that doesn’t count as overseas ;) More like over-the-channel…

There is a budget option: the Oasis Hong Kong, which launches this month.. if they can only get their act together, I think it will be a great boost to both HK and UK, including business travellers.
