Southeast Asian Haze Disrupts Flights

by Ruth on October 23rd, 2006

Flights to and from Indonesia’s Sumatra island are still operating on disrupted schedules as the island is still enveloped by the haze from forest fires.

The haze has piled on extra misery for travellers during a peak Muslim holiday period this week when Indonesians go back to their home towns and villages for Eid al-Fitr festivities marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The rest of Indonesia, as well as Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore are affected by the smog. Wikipedia keeps an updated story on the developments of the 2006 Southeast Asian haze, including some recent photos.

If you’re in the area, try these tips to keep safe.
