5 Asian Beaches To See Before I Die

BoracayWarm waters, white sand, reliable sunny weather. A lifetime will probably not be enough to explore all the wonderful beaches in Asia. But if you press me to narrow it down to 5, here are the top five beaches, in alphabetical order, which I would like to see and visit in the next few years (not that I have any intention of dying anytime soon):

  • Bali, Indonesia: Despite chronic terrorism issues and natural disasters, I just have to see the Travel & Leisure’s Best Island Resort.
  • Boracay, Philippines: Rated one of the finest beaches in the world, Boracay is probably the first I’d be able to see among this list.
  • Danang Beach, Vietnam : rated one of the most luxurious beach destinations in the world by Forbes magazine
  • Koh Samui, Thailand : An 80 minute flight south of Bangkok, this island is supposedly less tourist-packed than Phuket. And best: there are accommodations to fit just about any budget!
  • Maldives: 1,190 coral islands, forming an archipelago of 26 major atolls. 202 are inhabited, 87 are exclusive resort islands. Any one of those 87 you’d like to recommend?

How about you? Which tropical paradise in Asia are you dreaming of?

haven’t seen the ones in vietnam and indonesia but if we find the time, these tips are to be kept in mind. i specially like the set-up of the ritz-carlton, bali. tranquil.

koh samui, boracay and maldives…yeah, each has their own unique appeal. but the maldives had more to offer in terms of beaches, well, islands. we stayed where the hilton was but unfortunately i forgot the name of that atoll…

Koh Samui is as bad as Phuket. Koh Tao, 50 miles to the north, is where you want to go.

    Danang was OK.

Wow. I’ve never traveled abroad. I’m just sitting here playing on my New Jersey (USA) beaches and I never thought about beaches abroad. How odd…of course there are tons of places with beaches, and yet, I never thought of them! Thx for making me relook at things. I need to open my eyes and see what’s out there!

Koh Samui? No…try Phi Phi or other locations. Samui isn’t worth it. The island is fun, but the beach on the main drag is icky. There are a few beaches, but there are just better destinations that aren’t tourist central in Thailand.

The beaches on Phuket are actually quite nice, especially Surin Beach, Kata and Karon.

As long as you can ignore the respective girlie-bar scenes. But then again…some people just come here for that…
