Massage Your Jetlag Away!
They say jetlag is worse when you head east. So if you come from the US or from Europe, you should expect the worst of jetlag to hit you upon arrival in Asia. Not true for all, of course. I, for one, feel the opposite. I feel worse when I get back to Europe, but I suspect a good fraction of the reason lies on psychoemotional issues (also read homesickness).
But if you are one of those who feel the brunt of jetlag when going eastwards, here’s a something that might work: a massage on arrival. It might coax you to relax and get an energy boost to keep you going until it’s finally time to go to bed.
If you’re travelling on business, take a look at the jetlag advisor and to schedule your meetings during the first few days, taking note of the time of day you should be avoiding light. It sounds inconvenient, but if you proceed as advised during the first two days of your travel, it could cut your jetlagged days short and hopefully, you’ll find yourself back to normal and working efficiently after just a couple of days.
Here’s an interesting article for business travellers from the LA Times on fighting jetlag.
