Mom and Kids in Asia
Mother’s Day is coming up and at first I thought of posting recommendations on where to send Mom for a special treat, not necessarily for this coming Sunday, but at any time of the year. A luxurious spa treat. Or to a jaunt where you can get authentic Asian cuisine. Maybe an ayurvedic massage. Plus a bouquet of tropical orchids, perhaps.
As a mother, I know I would appreciate — and in fact, crave for!– any of those. But… I don’t know. There’s just something too cliche about it. Or maybe I just don’t want to further commercialize the occassion. So instead of zooming in on destinations and events, let’s switch focus and have a peek at one mother’s travelogues in Asia.
Sheila Scarborough pens a blog on family travel and shares stories of her travels with her kids in Hongkong, Tokyo. If you’re visiting these cities with kids in tow, I suggest you give Sheila’s posts a thorough reading. They are full of tips and ideas on where to go (yes, there’s more for children in Hongkong than just Disneyland), and practical information you will need when you get there.
Incidentally, with this post, I would like to reincarnate a category in this blog, namely the Asia Travelogues, which will feature blogs and bloggers who have been travelling in Asia and lived to tell and would like to share their stories. Have you been to Asia recently? Blogged about it? Drop me a line at ruth[AT]b5media.com and we’ll feature your story here, too!

Remember to stop by Singapore. Try the seafood and hawker food here. It’s a wonderful gastronomical affair not to be missed.
