The Baphuon Temple in Angkor Complex, Now Open
The Baphuon Temple, one of the largest and oldest temples in the Angkor complex, is now open to public.
A team of French archaeologists has managed to fit together part of the 11th- century Baphuon temple, which was dismantled nearly 50 years ago. About 300,000 stones of the temple were left strewn across a huge expanse of jungle. The original project was abandoned as civil war engulfed Cambodia in the early 1970s.
Visitors may now enter the east side and see the ongoing restorations, projected to last another two years.
