Culture and Heritage Celebration in Hongkong

by Ruth on March 27th, 2006

Cheung Chau Bun Festival Cheung Chau Bun Festival The Hongkong Tourism Board have designated 2006 as the Discover Hongkong Year and are bent on luring visitors and sample Hongkong’s culture and heritage. For the first time, the Culture & Heritage Celebration will be held from April 20 to May 7, and will showcase festivities related to celebrating the birthdays of Tin Hau, the Lord Buddha and Tam Kung, as well as The Bun Festival of Cheung Chau.

There will be temple fairs set-up beside the Central Ferry Piers, which the tourism officials hope will give the festival maximum exposure, arouse interest, and possibly lure visitors into exploring other districts and outlying islands and experience local celebrations there.

And why not? Afterall, there’s more to Hongkong than just shopping and Disneyland.
