Earrthquake in Pakistan and South Asia

by Ruth on October 12th, 2005

An earthquake with magnitude of 7.6 struck Pakistan and South Asia two days ago. I’m still reeling with the shock, another massive natural disaster not long after the Katrina hurricane over in the US. For thjose who’d like more graphic decsriptions of the quake scene, BBC news provides video and audio of the disaster area. The reporters’ logs also provide telling descriptions of how the situations really is like in the area, describing the despair, the horror, and the confusion the people are in. It’s a heart-tugging report.

Currently, relief operations are underway and the Pakistan Earthquake 2005 blog compiles a list of places where you can send your donations to. I have not personally checked the authenticity of the organizations listed, so please do your research when selecting where to send your donations. But if you can, I urge you to shell out what you can. These people have never been well-off to start with, and this earthquake left more than their homes shaken and shattered.
