Living (and Lovin’) in Hangzhou

I have been browsing Asian blogs for more stories I can pick and share with you, and came across the Middle Kingdom Stories (which I’ve also added to the blogroll). There’s one entry which struck a chord, being an Asian married to a Westerner, myself. Although Philippine culture seems to be a bit more relaxed and less structured that that of the Chinese (of course I’m biased, need you ask?), I find it heartwarming and, well, cute, when east meets west, in the name of love. Yeah, I’m a hopeless romantic, I know! And I’m digressing…

Back to MIddle Kingdom Stories: Author Dan is running a Q & A series about life in Hangzhou and the third question was

Q. What is it like to meet a friend’s Chinese family: mother, dad, sister, etc.? What might happen in the first meeting? How would you address the family? Any cultural issues there, mistakes westerners make?

Click here for the answer and the rest of the Q & A series.
