Travel Philantrophy in Asia
In the ‘Global Adviser’ section of Time, I came across a short feature on travel philantrophy. The concept has been on the rise since the Tsunami nightmare in 2004. And why not? Spending money for your holiday will have the extra perk of helping others in need.
One of the trips featured is that organized by Mountain Travel Sobek.
Besides doing what we can in the field in order to preserve and sustain the world’s unique cultures and delicate environments, we are proud to support a number of worthy organizations that, day after day, contribute to the betterment of societies around the world.
Among the organizations Moutain Travel Sobek works with are :
Central Asia Institute, a nonprofit organization promoting grass-roots, community based education (especially girl’s), women’s empowerment and conservation programs in remote, underserved regions of Central Asia.
and
The Fund For The Tiger (), established in 1995 to help prevent the extinction of one of the world’s most magnificent animals from the forests and jungles of Asia. The scope of The Fund’s activities is to provide support for work in Asia to protect the tiger and to help maintain a level of public awareness of the magnitude of this problem.
