Asia Hotels and Resorts Guide
I can’t wait to see the 2nd edition of Asia’s Best Hotels and Resorts Guide, and see how much better it is compared to the first one. A product of the collaborative efforts of asia-hotels.com and Insight Guides, my personal choice for city guides, this ought to be a good one. Hotels and resorts make it into this guide (at least in the first edition) as a result of a survey conducted by asia-hotels.com among its customers. Hence, the opinion and ratings are quite reliable, having been solicited from people who have actually lied on the beds, ate the food, and dipped in the waters.
There were a few editor’s picks featured in the first edition, though: mainly those off the beaten track, but which the authors think merit mention in the guide. These are small, non-chain, boutique type of accommodations, usually those which don’t get a lot of votes simply because the tourist density in the country where it is located is simply too low. I hope we see more of these in the second edition, because as it was, aside from the handful of editors’ picks, the first guide is not much help for those travelling on a tight budget.
At the price of $14 plus $4 for shipping, I still think itÂs a good buy. Each copy includes a Loyalty Card that translates to US$ 15 discount when you book a hotel through HotelClub.com. Interested? Order your copy here.
